Is the online follow-up instruction recognized by my employer?
Yes. The law requires instruction every two years, not a specific method. The instruction at ON7 is supervised by a physician, participation is documented, and the certificate can be checked for authenticity via QR code.
What counts as proof of my initial instruction?
Any certificate of an initial instruction under §§ 42, 43 IfSG, as a PDF or photo. It doesn't matter where you completed it: at the health office, with us, or with another provider.
I can no longer find my proof, what can I do?
No problem, you can still complete the follow-up instruction and simply confirm your initial instruction with a checkbox. If you need the document itself again, request a new copy from the health office or provider that issued it. Alternatively, you can complete a new initial instruction directly, giving you a complete, up-to-date document again.
How often does a follow-up instruction need to be done?
Once you have started the activity, the instruction must be repeated regularly - as a rule, every two years.
What is the difference between the initial and follow-up instruction?
You complete the initial instruction once, before working with food for the first time. The follow-up instruction refreshes this knowledge every two years.
What happens if my follow-up instruction has expired?
Your employer may then no longer employ you in the food sector. You can complete the follow-up instruction online at any time.
How long does the follow-up instruction take?
The refresher is deliberately kept short and is usually completed in just a few minutes.
How does the check of my proof work?
If you upload your proof, the system checks it automatically within seconds, without any waiting time. The upload is voluntary: without proof, you simply confirm with a checkbox and start right away.
Who issues the certificate?

Follow-up instruction, re-instruction, refresher - all the same thing

There are many names for the refresher under § 43 IfSG. It always means the same course.

Anyone working with food must keep their knowledge of hygiene and infection protection up to date. That's why § 43 (4) IfSG requires the instruction to be refreshed every two years. This ensures all employees know the current rules.

The refresher is needed by anyone who already has an initial instruction and continues working in the food sector, in food service, care, childcare, or retail. Without a valid follow-up instruction, the employer may not continue the employment.
