What is the follow-up instruction?

The follow-up instruction is the regular refresher under § 43 Abs. 4 IfSG. It is required for people who already hold an initial instruction and continue to work in a relevant field.

Once you have started the activity, the instruction must be repeated and documented regularly. As a rule, this repetition takes place every two years.

Important: This follow-up instruction does not replace an initial instruction. If you have never completed an initial instruction under § 43 IfSG, please start with the initial instruction.

Is the follow-up instruction known by other names too?
Yes. Among others, it is referred to as a refresher instruction, repeat instruction or subsequent instruction. In each case, it means the regular refresher under § 43 Abs. 4 IfSG.
Does the follow-up instruction replace the initial instruction?
No. The follow-up instruction does not replace an initial instruction. If you have never completed an initial instruction under § 43 IfSG, you must complete the initial instruction first.
